Cajun Pecan Praline Cookies Recipe

Cajun Pecan Praline Cookies Recipe
Pralines are an extremely popular Cajun treat, especially in Louisiana, and many people choose to purchase them from a candy company. My favorite recipe for Authentic Cajun Pecan Pralines aren’t difficult to make, but are a bit time consuming, but I’ve found that I can get the same wonderful flavors in the following Cajun Pecan Praline Cookies. They are easy to make, and will remind you of the famous candy.

Makes about 3 dozen

1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
12 teaspoons salt

2/3 cup chopped pecans

Praline Frosting
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

1 cup powdered sugar

Cookies: Preheat oven to 350°. Cream the butter and brown sugar; beat in egg and vanilla until light. Place a fine strainer over the mixture and measure the flour, baking powder, and salt into the strainer; shake through. Mix on low speed until thoroughly mixed. Scoop 1" balls from the mixture. Roll them in your hands into a ball and flatten slightly. Press into the chopped pecans and place on parchment or Silpat-lined baking sheets. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set. Remove from the oven and cool thoroughly.

Praline Frosting:: Place the brown sugar and heavy cream in a microwave-safe container (glass works best). Mix and microwave 2 minutes; stir. Microwave an additional 2 minutes or until boiling. Stir well and whisk in the powdered sugar. Drizzle the frosting over the cooled cookies.
