The Supernatural and DreamsThose who are experiencing paranormal activity, such as hauntings, spirit presence or possessions, often describe having unusual dreams and nightmares at the same time. The contents vary, depending upon the dreamer’s paranormal circumstances. Here are a few examples: Dream that you are witnessing the life of a person who has died There are reasons why some people who die choose to stay behind in spirit form: 1. They think they are alive. Sometimes, their death came so quickly, they don’t realize that they have died. They still feel as though they are alive and can see their etheric body form which appears exactly as their physical body was when they died. Your presence in “their” home greatly distresses them. 2. They prefer to stay on earth. Others rather enjoyed their earthly life incarnations, especially if they lived privileged lives. It is said that Hollywood is filled with celebrity ghosts who relive their glory days in spirit form. The incorrigible spirit of Errol Flynn reportedly still harasses and peeps in on young Hollywood starlets. 3. They fear the light and other side. Some spirits don’t understand that the light is a good place to be. If they believe that they will be judged and punished for misdeeds, they will resist crossing over. 4. They are trying to complete something. These are the ghosts who are on an eternal search for their lost children or beloveds. Sometimes, a murdered person will want to bring his killer to justice. Dream that replays an event or residual spirit energy dream Sometimes, a dreamer can be picking up on the residual “energy” of a person or event that took place in his home. There might not be an actual ghost or spirit in the place but whatever took place exuded such tremendous vibration (intense fear, horror, suffering) that it permeated the physical walls of the home. These types of energy also can imbue other personal belongings or objects. In any case, the dreamer can perceive these vibrations through his subconscious mind during sleep and see the replaying of the event. Dream of an evil presence And then, there are sources of very negative energy. Although many do not believe in evil, if you believe in the existence of goodness, it is unreasonable to believe that in this plane of duality, there would be no opposite for it. Without getting into religious philosophy, suffice it to say that there are dark forces that can assail us. They are of a lower vibration. It is believed that these lower vibrational energy forms never took on a physical human body like the rest of us, and this is their torment. As horrifying as they can be, they simply lack the same powers and privileges that we humans have. It is rare to come across such lowly or demonic energies but it happens, and you can perceive them more readily during dream state because your subconscious mind is open to the spirit realm. Nightmares don’t always have a supernatural cause Nightmares, while frightening, aren’t always caused by supernatural influences. People can experience nightmares due to stress, sickness, psychotropic drugs, prescription medication effects or sleep deprivation. Those suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome or sleep disorders often report night terrors and nightmares. The medical community believes that nightmares are the result of overwhelming stress during one’s waking life. Indeed, stress can show up in dreams taking the symbolic form of a monster or demon (“battling one’s demons”). Here are a few ways you can tell if your dream has a supernatural origin or not: When to be concerned Nightmares stop when you wake up. The memory fades as you move through your day. But a paranormal dream experience won’t be limited to your sleeping periods. There is a definite, unsettling feeling of an unseen presence in your waking life or home. There can be physical evidence of things that supposedly occurred in your dreams. Inexplicable but tangible things happen that cannot be attributed to imagination. If you experience chronic nightmares, consider getting a medical check-up. If you suspect your nightmares could have a supernatural cause, beware of those who claim that they can get rid of them for you for a price. Charlatans prey upon the people who are desperate to free themselves of paranormal activity. A reputable paranormal investigative team, church or clergy member or psychic medium can help you validate your suspicions and cleanse your home of negative activity without a cost. While some of their services may incur a fee, they typically consider these types of efforts a charitable cause.
