Wedding Etiquette - Bridesmaids Dress Style and Color
Guest Author - Victoria

Hi Victoria,

I have three bridesmaids, one maid of honor and two friends who are going to give readings at the wedding ceremony. I can’t get all of them to agree on the same color or the same dress. What do I do?

Sienna

Sienna,

I have great news for you – you no longer have to have your entire wedding party wearing the same color or even the same dress. Everyone has a different body type and to make everyone comfortable on your wedding day it’s best to let them find a dress that fits their body type. Instead of the same dress style, why not allow them to choose different styles but in the same color. If that doesn’t work, pick a color and give them three shades of that color that they can use. That should cause all the bridesmaids dress problems you are having to end.

For my wedding, I asked the bridesmaids to wear a lilac and they chose styles that flattered their body type and was appropriate for the season. Then I let the readers at my ceremony choose their dress color and style themselves. Everyone was comfortable, happy and there was very little stress for anyone on my wedding day.

Happy planning!

Thanks for writing,
Victoria
