Bite Biting Being Bitten Dream Symbol
We bite to eat, to defend and to attack. What you are biting or what is biting you determines the meaning of a dream.
Common biting symbols
Threatened to be bitten There is a waking life threat. Consider what is threatening you in the dream for further clues to who or what this is.
Showing fangs or bearing teeth. The biter is trying to warn others that he's feeling aggressive, ready to attack or defend.
Trying to bite but have no teeth. Although the biter will attempt to attack or defend, he will not have the ability to inflict damage.
Biting someone. Biter is doing something in his waking life to hurt someone either intentionally or unintentionally. Who are you biting?
Biting in defense. Biter is protecting himself against a waking life threat.
Biting with blood. Biter is seriously affecting whatever or whoever is being bitten.
Biting off something What is being bitten off? The biter wants to separate, enervate or render useless whatever is being bitten off. Look up the dream symbolism for what is being bitten off.
Biting and choking. Biter's aggression will negatively affect him.
Biting and spitting it out. Spitting something out is a form of rejection. What is being spat out?
Biting and eating. What is being eaten? A sandwich? Food? Prey? Being aggressive while eating food indicates negative feelings about nourishing yourself. Seeing yourself tear into once living animals or people reveals that you have waking life aggression towards something. You are in predator mode.
Being bitten by animals. Look up the dream symbolism for the animal that is doing the biting. Here are some:
Bitten by a snake. Dreamer may be hurt or negatively affected by someone or something that is sneaky or sneaks up upon him.
Bitten by a lion. A lion in this context represents a large threat in a dreamer's waking life. A lion of a competitor or an authority figure. Being hunted and bitten by a pack of lionesses points to a group of females in the dreamer's waking life.

Being bitten by bugs
Spider bite. Being lured in by temptation will hurt you.
Tarantula bite. A darker aspect of yourself will hurt you.

Ants, black or brown. Overworking is negatively affecting other areas of dreamer's life. The general work community could be "bugging" dreamer. He could be hurt by small matters.
Ants, army ants. Being overwhelmed by the corporate world or other organizations that represent the power of conformity.
Fleas. Little but persistent annoyances.
Mosquitoes. Similar to fleas, mosquitoes are small but hard-to-be-rid-of irritations in waking life only these tend to drain you of blood (life energy).
Being bitten by fantasy creatures
Vampire bite. Who or what is the vampire in waking life? A person? A project? This vampire will drain away your energy and can change your life.
Werewolf. A werewolf is a person who undergoes transformation and releases repressed anger and violence. Look for someone with this trait in waking life and beware.
Zombie. A frightening aspect in your life is something that should have been dead and buried but comes alive through your thoughts and fears. Resurrecting them hurts you.
Witch. Who is the evil female in waking life who is hurting you?
Evil entity. A strong negative presence or even a darker aspect of yourself is hurting you.
Mermaid. This represents a female in waking life who tends to be emotional and mysterious. She may have a fear of sex. How is she hurting you?
Big Foot. Elusive, maybe even a phantom of our imagination, Big Foot represents something hidden. Being bitten by Big Foot can indicate that something hidden is hurting you.
Alien. There is something foreign or unfamiliar that is hurting you.
Being bitten by people
Bitten by a baby. Dreamer's innocence is hurting him. Or one of his waking life projects he is working on is having a negative effect on him.
A man. Represents a male or males in general who are negatively affecting you in your waking life.
A woman. Be on the look-out for a female in your waking life who is hurting you.
Assailant. You have been or fear you'll be hurt by an outside threat.
Waking life person you know. Consider how this person in your waking life can be hurting you.
Homeless person. Fear of poverty or poverty is hurting the dreamer. Also, this can be a sign to be more generous and compassionate towards the less fortunate.
Common idioms and sayings
"Once bitten, twice shy." Getting hurt makes one more wary of trusting.
"Biting the hand that feeds you." Turning against someone who helps you or upon whom you rely.
"The dog's bark is worse than his bite." No real danger behind all the threats.
"Biting off more than you can chew." Taking on more than you can handle.
"A biting tongue." Mean or cruel words or way of speaking.
"Another one bites the dust." Being defeated after others have been defeated.
