U2 raked in $156 million from 25 shows in 21 North American cities in 2011, making the band the highest-grossing touring act of the year, according to Pollstar. Worldwide, the group pulled in $231.9 million for the year.

Taylor Swift just missed the $100 million mark in North America, earning $97.7 million over 80 dates in 59 cities on her “Speak Now” tour. Other top-grossing acts were Kenny Chesney ($84.6 million), Lady Gaga ($63.7 million) and Bon Jovi ($57.1 million), who were the biggest earners of 2010. A Pennsylvania musician has admitted to starting the recent rumor about the death of Jon Bon Jovi through a friend’s Twitter account. Jeffrey Goho told the Asbury Park Press that he was frustrated the rock star appeared to be concentrating on business endeavors that have nothing to do with music.

Former CBS News producer Joe Halderman, who attempted to blackmail late-night host David Letterman in 2009, has landed a new job. Investigation Discovery’s newsmagazine On the Case With Paula Zahn hired Halderman to serve as a freelance producer, The Hollywood Reporter confirms, though he is not expected to work in the field.

Michael Jordan is engaged to longtime girlfriend Yvette Prieto, a Cuban-American model he’s been dating for three years. Publicist Estee Portnoy confirmed the news, first reported by WCNC in Charlotte, on Thursday. The Bobcats owner got engaged over the Christmas weekend. No wedding date has been set.

After losing her left eye and left hand to a spinning plane propeller, Lauren Scruggs is re-learning some basic day-to-day functions. The model and fashion blogger, 23, now has “no depth perception, making even walking up and down steps a hard thing to do,” Cheryl Scruggs writes on her daughter’s Caring Bridge website.

Diandra Douglas says she fears for the mental health of her and Michael Douglas’ troubled son, Cameron, after he was sentenced to an additional 4 1/2 years in jail — with no family visits for two years — for possessing drugs in his cell. Diandra blasted Judge Richard Berman for imposing a “harsh” sentence, adding the ban on family visits plus 11 months of solitary confinement for violating prison rules was cruel.

Their son, Director Gabriel Bologna made over 70 gourmet pizzas from scratch in the Bologna’s wood fired oven outside next to the pool and the Bocci ball courts where Beverly Hills publicist Edward Lozzi was handing out cigars and playing Bocci with pal Joe Bologna. A jazz band played good and loud and over 100 invited gladhanders stopped by to toast Jonah for his Golden Globe and SAG Award nominations. Celebrities making merry included Elliot Gould, Shirley Jones, Frances Fisher, Chuck McCann, Robert Loggia, Sally Kirkland, the VanPatten family, Joe Cortese, Candy Clark, Terry Moore, Dyan Canon, Robert Forster, Bruce Davison, John Savage, Michael Nouri, and Bai Ling. Many Oscar nominees and winners were among the guests.
