Feng Shui for Health
Guest Author - Diane Kern

Everyone is health conscious these days. We try to eat a healthy diet. We exercise more in an attempt to stay in shape. And controlling stress has become an industry.

Feng Shui is also concerned about health. Creating a healthy environment is easier with the proper feng shui. The places where we work and live have a strong influence on our health. You absorb energy from any place in which you spend a lot of time. So making sure you have the best feng shui environment is a key to good health.

Each of the eight trigrams and directions are related to different parts of the body. When you diagram your house or work place by overlaying the floor plan with a feng shui bagua you will be able to identify those directions and analyze any potential problems.

N represents the trigram Kan-the Middle Son. The element is water and the body areas of concern would be blood and your water system or kidneys.

SW is the trigram Kun- the Mother. The area of the body is the tummy and especially female problems.

E represents the trigram Zhen- the Oldest Son. Hands can be affected here.

SE corresponds to the Xun trigram- the Oldest Daughter and the bottom is the part of the body affected.

NW stands for the Qian trigram- the Father. Head problems can be triggered in this area.

W is the Dui trigram- the Youngest Daughter, Watch out for your teeth .

NE is Gen trigram-the Youngest Son. Here you should be concerned about fingers.

S represents Li-the Middle Daughter. Keep a look out as this trigram stands for the eyes.

Each of these trigrams has additional body parts associated with it. Notice that each trigram also represents a family member too. Not only can the body parts be affected but also the family member and gender represented by the trigram.

When you have a sha either inside or outside in one of these areas, that family member, gender or body part can have a problem. A sha can be a dying tree or swampy land. It could also be a trash pile or cemetery. Another type of sha might be a “T” junction pointing at your room. Inside your home or work place you might find a corner pointing at your bed or desk. You might have your sofa positioned under a ceiling beam. Dirty or broken windows can be another type of sha. A fireplace located in an inauspicious area can also be a sha.

Look around you and see if you can find areas that need fixing to improve your health.
