Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has opened up their newest resort in the heart of Thailand's Golden Triangle, so named because it's where the the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (Burma) converge. It is the company's third property in Thailand.
The new Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle can only be reached by river boat amid the country's exotic bamboo jungles, and can only accommodate 30 guests at a time.
Accommodations at the resort include 15 luxurious air-conditioned tents, but they aren't the kind of tents you remember from your childhood camping trips. Each tent is individually decorated and features a king-size Four Seasons signature bed, floors made from recycled teak, exotic furniture, an outdoor shower, a sundeck with massage beds and a hand hammered oversized copper bathtub. Through the tent's zippered doors and windows, guests will have spectacular views of South East Asia.
Think of it as getting back to nature without roughing it.
Designed for active adult travelers, the Camp resort offers a wide variety of on-site and off-site activities including a hands-on elephant experience featuring animals rescued from the streets of Thailand as part of an ongoing program to provide domesticated elephants with a humane and natural setting, cruises of the Mekong River, jungle treks, bird watching, fishing, riverbank picnics, nature walks, mountain biking, temple tours and cooking classes. Guests can also relax in the Camp's free-form pool after a long day of activities or enjoy a traditional Thai massage and exotic spa treatment amid the bamboo forests of the San Valley that bisects the Camp.
The Camp offers guests two or three-night all-inclusive packages that include accommodations, all meals and beverages (including wines and spirits), a spa treatment, mahout training in the 2000-year-old Thai tradition of elephant care, a Mekong River excursion and private airport transfers from Chiang Rai Airport.
Even better, until September 30, 2006, special introductory five-night packages, ranging from US$3,900 to US$5,657 (double occupancy), offer guests the opportunity to combine a stay at the Camp with one of the two other Four Seasons properties in Thailand (the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai and the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok).
