Bluebells are one of the best loved English Garden flowers and when you smell their delicate scent you know summer is not far away.
Here are three lovely blue flowering herbs that will look great amongst your beds and borders
First Bugle – Ajuga reptens – which is a low growing creeping perennial with blue flowers in late spring to early summer. It only reaches 15cm or 6 inches and will spread quite quickly.
It prefers a moist, fertile soil and does best in light shade although it will grow successfully in sun as long it is kept well watered.
Borage -Borage officinalis - is an annual that will grow to 1-2 foot or 30 -60cm. It has quite prickly but furry grey/green leaves and will grow well in a sunny spot prefering well drained soil. Bees adore it.But be warned it very easily self seed!
Common flax - Linum usitatissimum is a plant that is easy to grow.
It is a hardy annual that prefers in a sunny spot with well drained soil. It is good for the back of borders and beds as it grows from 1 -4 foot or 30cm to 1.2m. bees love its flowers which last all summer.
