Chipboard Embellishments

Chipboard Embellishments
Chipboard is a trendy, inexpensive embellishment that you can add to your scrapbook layouts to give them that extra dimension!

*Chipboard comes in different sizes of sheets. You can find it in the back of packs of paper or you can purchase chipboard from craft stores. You can also find it on the backs of notepads!

*Chipboard shapes can be purchased in packaged sets from various major companies including Leaving Prints. I really enjoy the premade chipboard sets because they are so fast and easy to use...just add glue!

Here are some ideas for making your own chipboard embellishments:

Chipboard Painted Shapes and Letters
*Cut your chipboard freehand or with a die-cut machine such as Sizzix or Quickcuts to create your own shapes.

*Coat shapes with acrylic paint and/or ink to finish.

*To alter your painted shapes: lightly sand, paint with crackle medium or cover with modge podge.

Patterned-Paper
Cover your chipboard shapes with patterned paper. This technique looks especially great when used with alphabets. Finish your edges by sanding the edges to make them even with the chipboard. You can also add ink or paint to your edges to give them a more distressed look.

Stickers and Diecuts
Attatch a diecut or sticker to chipboard and cut the desired shape from the chipboard. Coat with a finishing glaze or modge podge. This is a great way to use up all of those old stickers that you have stashed away! Spruce up the old stash and start using it!

Add glitter, beads or confetti
Apply adhesive to the chipboard shape and then shake on glitter beads or confetti.

More Ideas:
Anything you can do to paper, you can do to chipboard.
