After being introduced to the Non-profit devoted to the issues that concern young women diagnosed with breast cancer, The Young Survival Coalition (http://www.youngsurvival.org), I learned some staggering statistics about young women and cancer. Not only are young women underrepresented in breast cancer research studies, but an estimated 250,000 women in the U.S. age 40 and under are living with breast cancer.
Designer, Nicole Miller’s limited-edition York Sensational Collection is featuring elegant evening bags and totes in a variety of prices ranging from $25-1,000. The York Sensational Collection is involved in a charitable endeavor to benefit The Young Survival Coalition and a $25,000 donation was made by York Peppermint patties, the company that re-vamped their packaging with new silver wrapping and inspired Nicole Miller’s line.

I’ve been sporting my Nicole Miller metallic canvas tote all over the college where I teach and find it an appealing and practical accessory, as well as chic. In addition, it serves as a reminder for me to schedule my mammogram!
The Young Survival Coalition, founded by three women diagnosed with breast cancer is dedicated to the mission of advocating for more research on young women and breast cancer. Currently, its revenues total 1.5 million dollars and boasts 11,000 constituents. The Young Survival Coalition also offers a sense of community by providing an active peer-support network of survivors.
