Do You Embellish?

Do You Embellish?
I love using stickers to embellish my pages. But I definitely do not limit my trimmings to just stickers! There are TONS of things you can use to accent your pictures on your scrapbook page layouts! Here is a list of several of the most popular and easily added extras:

Stickers. Of course, stickers are the most popular things to use on your pages to make them pretty or cute. They are my personal favorite. You can get acid free stickers just about anywhere. They even have sticker borders to put on the sides or at the top or bottom of your page! You can make borders out of stickers, or put them on frames to make a fancier page.

Die Cuts. Die cuts are similar to stickers, only without the adhesive on the back. Plus they are usually made of card stock paper. You can get die cuts in any shape and size! They are a very popular embellishment, also, and can be found just about everywhere! If your die cuts are plain, you can use chalk to give them dimension. There are new personal die-cut machines that are getting very popular.

Frames. A frame is a piece of paper put behind a picture to outline it. These are used to accent the photograph most of the time. Lots of people frame every picture that they put on a page! It is always good to frame a dark picture on a lighter background and vice versa. This trick is handy to know so that your pictures do not “fade” into your background paper.

Punchies. Punchies are what you get when you use punches to cut shapes out of paper. These are another very popular embellishment that you can use. The punches are widely available in tons of different shapes and figures and sizes.

Patterned paper. Last but not least, the easiest thing that there is to make your pages pretty is patterned paper. There are so many out there that it is impossible not to find some type of acid free patterned paper. Many people use plain cardstock and accent with patterned paper. Lots of people also use patterned paper as the background for their layout. It makes for a more appealing page when you can find a background paper that goes with your theme.

These are just some basic accents you can use to make a more attractive layout. Next time I will try to list and describe some embellishments that are a bit more advanced. Please join us in the forum to talk about your embellishments!
