Mercy Corps

Mercy Corps
Mercy Corps joined me last week, August 4th as my guest on Giving Hearts Live
(https://www.internetvoicesradio.com). The organization provides humanitarian aid and relief efforts in the Middle East-particularly Southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip and reaches hundreds of thousands of the people in the areas affected by the conflict now waging.

Mercy Corps received a top evaluation as one of the most efficient charities in terms of their allocation of resources from Charity Navigator, a charity evaluator. According to Charity Navigator, Mercy Corps uses 90 % of their agency resources directly to help those in need.
A $50 donation to Mercy Corps provides a week’s worth of meals for a displaced Lebanese family. In addition, a $20 donation allows a child to benefit from having a Children’s Care Kit, which includes milk, diapers and other much needed emergency supplies.

Mercy Corp’s convoys distribute emergency food such as flour, cooking oil, canned goods and other basic food items, and to date 15,000 blankets have been distributed in the affected areas.
Because water-borne diseases have begun to be a threat, pure bottled water is needed to prevent health risks.

One of the greatest challenges facing the 30 member Field Team, and the displaced still continues to be the difficulty of travel amidst the damaged roads and bridges.
