This new feature presents an electronic version of my new Terra Tarot Deck, one card at a time. The thirteenth card available for download is The Ten of Swords.

The Ten of Swords is another misunderstood Sword card, that is often mistaken for a misfortunate card in a reading. But essentially, this card shows hope - it is the classic "darkness before the dawn" card, representing the space and time for rising up from the bottom - getting back on one's feet, brushing yourself off, and forging ahead. The key warning of this card is that the querant is feeling like a victim and/or martyr, which amounts to a defeatist stance which needs to be addressed. The card conveys the message to be brave, to regain your power, to emerge from the darkness and enter the light of purpose and intention. Learn to look at life more philosophically, and regain your sense of humor!
The symbology used in my rendition of the Ten of Swords shows a fallen figure, lying spent and unmoving, alone in a lonely landscape.
Since the theme of this deck is Terra, our Mother Earth, I elected to begin this illustration using a primitive landscape that showcases piercing mountains that also point straight up into the clear blueish purple sky. The foreground consists of a vast sandy desert plain that nicely contrasts the sky with its rich golden tones.
Ten sword symbols point at the person's back, metaphorically representing the dramatic impact of the person's fears, sorrows and sense of misery. At the middle top, a decorative Merkaba which represents the metaphysical spirit "vehicle" that becomes activated as we balance our chakras, meridians, and lifeforce brings hope also calls to her. At the bottom, lies the elemental Air symbol to the left, and the Male gender symbol, since the Swords are considered to be masculine in nature.
