Book Review: Naturally Healthy Skin
Guest Author - Adrienne Dumas

One of my favorite books of all time regarding health and body care is the book “Naturally Healthy Skin: Tips and Techniques for a Lifetime of Radiant Skin” by, Stephanie Tourles. This book is packed full of information on skin care. It is also full of homemade recipes that you can use to create your own skin care treatments such as a recipe for an anti-cellulite bath treatment and a recipe which I used just recently for a sunburn, called the aloe after-sun relief spray.

In this book you will learn everything that you need to know regarding having healthy skin and a beautiful natural glow. Some of what you will learn includes the essentials of having a good skin care regimen, eating healthy, getting plenty of rest and daily exercise (I found out that sweat is actually good for your skin from this book) and more. It also gives you a basic understanding of the various skin types and how to care for and properly pamper each skin type. This is a really great book for those who would like to learn the basics of attaining naturally healthy skin as well as being a great reference book for the more advanced students regarding homemade skin treatments, recipes and tips for keeping your skin looking beautiful. This book also includes, in chapter two titled “Super foods and other essentials for a fabulous face and body”, a detailed list of essential vitamins, essential minerals, essential fats and fatty acids and whole food supplements.

One of my favorite chapters in this book is chapter four titled "The Salon and Spa Experience." This chapter gives some great professional tips to keep your skin in super shape. One of the tips that the author suggests is having a professional facial done at least twice a year. She also suggest keeping a mister bottle of purified water handy at all times to refresh and hydrate your skin whenever you start to feel dry. This works great, especially if you are prone to reaching for a bottle of lotion many times a day.

My favorite chapter in this book is chapter seven titled, “Skin challenges to expect from your twenties through your seventies”. I love this chapter because it gives you some great tips on how to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy and well all through your life! It also goes greatly into detail about the various skin ailments that can occur at various ages, from pimples in your early twenties to sagging skin in the seventies and she gives great tips on how to age gracefully. One tip that she has for those in their seventies and beyond is “accept yourself for the beauty and character you’ve become.” That is good advice for us all!
