Update on Travel from the TSA

As you have heard about the updated terror alert in England, diabetics are concerned on what can and can’t be brought aboard carryon luggage in the U.S. and beyond. Many rumors and misinformation has been spread due to the terrorists capture.

Recent updated from the TSA allow diabetics to carry insulin aboard. However, all medications must be clearly marked with the ticket holder’s name and the same name on insulin. Again, any clear liquids and gels must be stored in regular luggage and not carry on. Baby formula and breast milk are still allowed as carry on luggage.

In order to expedite your travel, be sure to cooperate with any and all TSA personal and be sure to give yourself ample time to get through security checks before boarding a plane. With these extra delays it would be wise to arrive at least 3 hours before your overseas departure. Expect other delays as you travel with developments as they occur.

With regards to overseas travel, currently the United Kingdom, these measures are being strictly enforced. When making you way back from the United Kingdom be prepared to have all of your carry on items in the clear plastic receptacle provided for you. If you have any further questions be sure to contact the country’s embassy where you will be traveling or go to that country’s website.

Further information regarding travel in the United States can be found on the TSA website.
