Okay, I will admit that I was a little leery of what Twitches Too was going to be like. The new Disney Channel Original Movie Twitches Too is the sequel to the 2005 Disney Channel Original Twitches. The movies are based on the characters from the mystery/adventure series T*witches by H.B. Gilmour and Randi Reisfeld. Twitches Too stars twins in real-life Tia and Tamera Mowry.

I ended up being pleasantly surprised!

I enjoyed the fact that they stayed true to the story and characters presented in Twitches. As those of you who saw the first movie remember, Twitches is about twin girls who were separated at birth--your very unoriginal long lost twin story. But, to give this story a twist, these twins have magical abilities and are actually from another dimension all together! The girls find each other and manage to work together to save the kingdom of Coventry from the evil darkness.

Now with Disney messing up so many of their sequels lately, I was unsure just how well they would pull off Twitches Too. To my surprise, they pulled it off with flying colors! The story stays true to the first movie’s plot and characters. Instead of making everything seem like life is just peachy now that the twins have been reunited, the movie opens with the twins in a bit of a disagreement and obvious jealous tension. The twins also are living in “our” dimension instead in the magical dimension of Coventry. They are both still trying to figure out what these new magical powers can do and how to control them.

I enjoyed the fact that the more pampered Camryn, played by Tamera Mowry, is still acting like the pampered princess and is loving the idea of being a magical princess, while the more independent Alex, played by Tia Mowry, who is now living with Camryn and her adoptive parents, is more appreciative of her new opportunities and less likely to take things for granted.

In Twitches Too the evil darkness they had defeated in the first movie is threatening to come back even stronger than before. Once again the fate of Coventry lies in the hands of Camryn and Alex, and they have to work together to defeat the darkness once and for all. On top of all this there are indications that their biological father, whom everyone believed was dead, may actually be alive and hiding out to regain his strength. And the spell that they need to perform to defeat the darkness would kill their father as well. Now what is a girl to do?
