Teen Girl Summer Fashion Checklist

Teen Girl Summer Fashion Checklist
With all the glitzy glam commercials about fashions and product placements in every single episode of every single program that a teen girl watches, fashion can seem overwhelming. What do you choose? What is your style? Rocker? Girl next door? Punk? Goth? Country? Not to mention that there are so many products pushed at you and it can get expensive too if you aren’t careful. But being unfashionable is just plain…unfashionable. You gotta look good but doing so can seem challenging.

So, here are so simple and basic things that every teen girl (from prim to punk) should have to stay gorgeous.

Facecloth and cleanser
The best way to keep break-outs at bay is to wash your face every single day. It’s simple but easy to forget. While genes, diet and hormones also play heavily into pimples, good hygiene is the best (and sometimes only) thing you can do to control it. Make sure to pay a cleanser that is appropriate for your face – and the simpler the better. Too many fragrances or chemicals can cause a break-out and over-medication can burn and dry out your skin. Nice natural treatments for oily skin is witch-hazel or aloe vera (I swear by them) and for dry skin is either shea butter or vitamin E.

Body lotion
Again, the simpler the better. Chemicals, dyes and fragrances can break down your skin or cause allergies so be sure to read the bottle. The best time to apply lotion is right after a shower or bath.

A bottle of water
In other words, stay hydrated and soda, juice and other flavored drinks don’t cut it. Drink water regularly to cleanse your skin from the inside and be sure to drink extra if it is very hot or your are very active.

Petroleum jelly
Strangely enough, this stuff is much better than any lip gloss out there. It doesn’t have the flavoring and coloring and goes on smooth and stays on nice. It gives a wonderful gloss and conditions your lips. Applying it every nice will keep your lips supple. And the best part is that one inexpensive container can last for months.

Sandals
Make sure they are cute and make sure they are comfortable because you will probably be wearing them often in the heat. And because plastics and other unnatural substances mixed with sweat is the recipe for stinky feet, stick to cloth or leather.

A good bra
Strangely enough, a large proportion of women have bras that don’t fit right. Because underwear shapes you under your clothes, having correctly sized underwear is very important. Knowing your size sometimes takes a trip to a nice lingerie shop in the mall with the help of a trained sales clerk – don’t be shy. That’s what they are there for.

Sunscreen
With all the summer sun, be sure to put on sunscreen every day. Not just when you will be outside playing on the beach. This will ensure that you won’t be sunburned (the tomato look isn’t in) or be growing age spots on your skin before their time.

Jeans
Not just any old jeans. You should make sure to always have at least one pair of jeans that makes you feel awesome – hugs you in the right places, makes you look amazing and are totally comfortable. All the time spent in the dressing room is worth it. Every girl should have one of these.

Black tee shirt
Again, make sure it makes you look awesome. It goes with everything and hides summer fun dirt better than anything.

Fingernail polish and remover
Pick your color, spend the extra money (more expensive brands usually stay on longer, are shinier, and stronger) and have some fun. But make sure to buy the remover in case of oopsies.

Scent
From Patchouli to rose, everyone has a scent that is perfect for them. Spend some time finding yours and it will make you feel like a million bucks. Just make sure not to pout it on too strong. A little usually goes a long way.

A large hairclip and a scrunchie
These two accessories will make anything from a ponytail to a cute bun and are perfect for hot days when the last thing you want is your hair on your shoulders making your stretchy.

Bathing suit
The best bathing suit covers up your trouble spots. Just because two pieces are in, don’t wear one if it isn’t the best for your body. Find one that makes your individual body shape look its best and you will feel much more fashionable and confident poolside.

A good diet
Eating well ensures nice hair, nice skins and a nice body in the long run which is the best form of fashion.

Comfy pillows and blankets
Research has shown that getting enough sleep not only improves your mood (smiles are always fashionable), but your skin and reduces the changes you will gain weight. Nice.
