Think GAIA with Sanyo-Product Review
Guest Author - Paula Petrie

“Mankind’s blind pursuit of convenience and material comforts threaten to upset this fragile balance of co-existence sustaining life on Earth, creating such problems as environmental destruction and the break-down of societal values.”-Sanyo.co

The opening page of Sanyo’s GAIA website tells us J.E. Lovelock from NASA’s Mars exploration of the 1960s saw the earth as a living, green organism with mankind living in harmony with all living things. He used "Gaia," the name of goddess, Earth Mother, in Greek mythology to describe this living organism -Earth.

Sanyo has chosen to think “GAIA” In respecting that all life on earth is organic and interconnected, Sanyo intends to use it’s technological resources and know-how to propose global solutions in harmony with our new understanding of Gaia- Earth. The company’s ultimate goal is to help restore a beautiful Earth for future generations.

One example of Sanyo’s new clean energy products are the Eneloop (ready to use right out of the package,) rechargeable batteries. These batteries combine the necessary features of an alkaline battery with the benefits of rechargeable. And they are great.

They are recyclable without chemical worries, and they last 3 times longer than alkaline in high drain devices. Which is fun and truly, economically sound for us. Plus it is great for the landfill and other environmental issues when we don‘t have to replace batteries every few hours. You can recharge these batteries worry free 1000 times.

Eneloop are great for digital cameras, PDA’s, and I-pods, and as the charge lasts a long, long time. And when you do need a charge, the re-chargers are excellent. “The compact” is small and lightweight with a foldaway plug. Perfect for transport. “The 4-position re-charger” has a wonderful, sleek design with a slide off cover, and plugs directly into the wall, cord free. Both chargers have WW voltage for convenient travel anywhere the world takes you.

I think it does help the world when we seek out companies whose mission statement has a moral compass. One advantage to doing this is, in an attempt to reclaim a piece of the market share more companies will create environmentally friendly products, in an environmentally friendly way. When like Eneloop, the products are a joy to use, it just makes the future look brighter.
