Adobe Video Technology

Adobe has won the Technical and Engineering EmmyR Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its Flash video technology and adding video content to your Flash movie can be done with two easy methods. First, as part of the import function, you can use the Import Video dialog box to encode your video and customize how it is displayed using new options such as skin presets. Secondly, for bigger projects that require batch processing, you can use the stand alone Flash Video Encoder application which ships with Flash CS3 Professional. Also new to CS3 is the advanced QuickTimeR export feature which converts your Flash movie into QuickTime format and nested movie clips, ActionScript and runtime effects are consistent between QuickTime and the Flash Player.

UI Components

Creating Flash applications is much easier with the pre-built ActionScript 3 UI (user interface) components. Using these components, you can build a Flash application that includes anything from a simple Button or Checkbox to an XML Connector or Media Controller. In previous versions of Flash, if you wanted to customize these UI components you needed to use ActionScript. But now, you can control the settings for parameters such as appearance (skin) and functionality from within the Parameters Panel.

Adobe Device Central CS3

Creating content for mobile devices is the newest challenge for today's Flash designer and developer. The new Adobe Device Central CS3 will help you create content such as Flash LiteTM applications. Using the Device Central, you can try out your content with various device profiles which will simulate real world influences such as backlighting and reflection to show how your content will display in mobile devices.

Flash CS3 Professional is available as a stand alone application or as part of the Creative Suite 3 Web, Design and Production Premium packages.
