January 15 2010 Homeschooling Newsletter

Hello everyone!
There are six new articles this week, plus several new ideas at the Homeschooling Forum. This week brings a few articles about The 39 Clues book series, as well as Chinese New Year lesson ideas. In addition, my good friend Joanne, who is also a homeschool mom and tutor, has graciously offered her advice on finding a homeschool tutor. You can find that article below:

Please visit https://homeschooling.bellaonline.com/Site.asp for all the new articles, and don't forget to check out the subject areas for past articles you may have missed.

The book club is rolling along nicely, and I plan to set up an online chat sometime within the week. Please email me at homeschooling@bellaonline.com if you'd like to voice a good time for you, or just to comment on the book. I have found "Homeschooling at the Speed of Life" to be an awesome read so far!

Don't forget to post your thoughts on the book club and homeschooling topics at the Homeschooling Forum. Find the forum at:

Have a wonderful weekend!

About the BellaOnline Homeschooling Editor

As a former elementary school teacher, now homeschooling my son, I am fortunate to have experience with both educational worlds. My son is now entering fifth grade, the same grade I taught the two years before his birth. I am really excited to have a class of one this time around teaching grade five!

My homeschool experience began when my son was starting second grade, and the past three years has been both wonderful, and at times, challenging. I hope to provide a resourceful place where fellow homeschoolers can find ideas, information and support.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Pace University in New York. Being an avid homeschool mom I enjoy teaching not only my son, but also his peers. We have been part of a great homeschool co-op since we started learning at home. I have taught (and created curriculum) for several classes for this co-op, including Star Wars Language Arts and Commercials and Advertising. This Fall I am teaching an AIMS themed Science class.
In addition, I am helping with field trip planning and strategy games club.
