New Eric Clapton Biography

Eric Clapton, revered for decades as the ultimate guitarist, has written an autobiography. This new book was his attempt to be as honest as possible about his life, and the honesty doesn't stop there. Eric Clapton has admitted that many years of his career aren't easily remembered because of the substance abuse problems he had for decades. He relied on diaries and the memories of friends to put together much of the book in order to get an accurate picture of his life. He is now sober and in fact began his own rehab clinic, Crossroads, on the Caribbean island of Antigua.

Some of the juiciest details of his life are included, including the destructive love triangle that developed between Eric Clapton, George Harrison and the model Patti Boyd. The interaction between himself and many of his rock-god colleagues are also chronicled. Jimi Hendrix and the members of both the Rolling Stones and the Beatles. Many of his friendships ended in tragedy as some of the brightest stars of the 60s and 70s died young. Having avoided the same fate, though he was living lifestyles much like the ones who died. Eric Clapton expresses gratitude for his second chance in life with his newfound sobriety. However, tragedy still occurred around him. One of the lowest points was when Eric Clapton's young son died from a fall out of a hotel window.

In addition to the gossip and battle with substance abuse, Clapton does describes the details of his music. She discusses specific songs and the work that went into them as how his musical prowess grew and changed.

Eric Clapton eschewed a ghostwriter for the book and claims to have written itself. The result is a book that is much more personal than most rock n roll autobiographies.
