November is Diabetes Awareness Month

Ever feel you are alone in your disease? Feel no one understands you as a diabetic? Well because of November being Diabetes Awareness Month some national companies such as Food Network’s Ellie Krieger and YMCA of the USA, Del Monte® and StarKist® are determined to empower American families to start living a healthier, more energized life with the Just One More for Healthy Living™ Pledge.

This pledge is for families to develop a healthier lifestyle to prevent the epidemic of Diabetes on children and adults. Everyone has heard of the 5 a day but this promotes just one more fruit, vegetable or healthy habit like exercise to prevent any life threatening illnesses like diabetes, heart disease and other chronic illness.

Information can be found on the www. Eatjustonemore.com. What is great about this site is it offers up diabetic friendly recipes and helpful hints to improve your family’s lifestyle.

By eating just one more healthy fruit, vegetable or including more fish in your diet improves your over all health and future. This site provides recipes, exercise tips and even a forum so you can converse with other people. For families setting a good example is key to have a happy and healthy child.

Type 2 diabetes is an epidemic as more and more children are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes due to bad habits. Overweight children who have no physical activity are at a greater risk of getting Type 2 Diabetes.

With this Just One More campaign families and children can help prevent getting diabetes, heart disease or any other chronic illnesses. Be sure to talk to your doctor if you have any of the symptoms of Diabetes.

1. Unquenchable thirst

2. Constant Urination

3. Unexplained weight loss or gain.

A simple blood test or two can determine whether or not you or a loved one has Diabetes. You must be sure to tell your doctor your concerns and worries since the average patient is lucky to get 15 minutes with your primary care physician.

As a way to kick off Diabetes Awareness Month I have 4 kits to give away. Please email me privately and the first four people will receive these kits.

Also if you go to the just one more site and sign up you can also receive a kit, limited to supplies on hand.

Remember if you or anyone you know exhibit these symptoms tell them to get tested and get a check up.

Remember don’t guess TEST!
