The King of Cups

Terra Tarot Deck Feature

This new feature presents an electronic version of my new Terra Tarot Deck, one card at a time. The thirty-second card available for download is The King of Cups. The King completes the cup suit of the Terra Deck.

Terra Tarot Deck - The King of Cups

The symbology used in my rendition of the King of Cups shows a kindly king, wise and compassionate, strolling along his kingdom, deep in thought - a philosophical text grasped in his right hand and his staff of wisdom in his left. This king is beloved by his people - he has a considerate nature and takes everyone into account when he makes big decisions. He knows what makes people tick, and supports others to both grow and learn.

The King of Cups rules with majesty, yet has a quiet, serent composure about him. Nothing ruffles his feathers, and he prefers to avoid tension and conflict. He appeals to the emotional needs of his Queen and family, as well as his loyal subjects. He is a healer as well as a monarch, and expresses his open mind and wide-angle perspective of the world eloquently and with ease. He is comfortable around any class of people - he does not lord his station in situations of any kind. He prefers that his people feel free and happy, and knows that his country will thrive if his people all work together in contentment.

Since the theme of this deck is Terra, our Mother Earth, I elected to begin this illustration using a beautiful water and mountain landscape that showcases a young but soft looking mountain that nestles along the bank of calm deep waters. The entire landscape is quite blue in hue since the Cups are associated with the color blue.

Above the King rests a decorative Merkaba which represents the metaphysical spirit "vehicle" that becomes activated as we balance our chakras, meridians, and lifeforce. To the right of the Merkaba, flies a white dove, symbolizing peace and love. To either side of the Merkaba hang the elemental Water symbol to the left, and the female gender symbol to the right, since the Cups suit are considered to be feminine in nature.

I am presenting an online version of the Terra Deck for our Bella readers. Just click on the banner below to download your copy of the King of Cups. Right click on the image that comes up and save to your selected folder.
