Picking the Right Engagement Ring

Picking the Right Engagement Ring
Are you planning on asking your girlfriend to marry you this holiday season? Maybe on Valentines Day? But maybe you aren’t exactly sure about picking out the perfect engagement ring. You want something beautiful, but not that pricey cost tag that could be a down payment on a home. You want a ring that matches your bride, antique or classy? Should you buy a diamond or a colored stone? What are the C’s of picking out the perfect ring and how many carats aren’t enough and how many are too much? If any of these questions concern you, then guys you’ve come to the right place.

What about the engaged couples, now its time to look for your wedding sets. Do you go with silver or gold? White gold? Or should you choose a gold and silver band? A band with diamonds? So many options, it’s bound to have you pulling your hair out.

No worries though. In this article I will explain everything about engagement and wedding bands that you need to know. I’m also including websites with some pricey rings and some that are a little cheaper but still look expensive.

First let’s explore the 4 C’s to picking out an engagement ring. Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat. What do these mean when it comes to picking out a diamond. Cut is the shape of the stone that can make the ring beautiful or plain. Not all diamonds are clear; some do have a yellow tint to them. If you decide to go for a purple or pink stone, I would check the clarity and the carat of those stones. Clarity is the purity of a diamond and carat is the size of the stone, the more carats the bigger the stone and the bigger the price tag.

One of my favorite websites I’ve come across is https://www.jared.com/. On this website you can create your ring. You pick whether you want gold or silver and the price tag, then you will get a page full of rings fitting your descriptions.

The following are from https://www.jared.com
Metal: platinum
Price Range: $501-$1500

Metal: yellow gold
Price Range: under $500

Metal: white gold
Price Range: over $1500

The next two rings were the only ones that I came across that not only had the engagement ring but the wedding ring as well.
Metal: white gold
Price Range: over $1500

A couple of other websites you might want to check out include:
https://www.walmart.com
https://www.tacori.com

If I ever had to pick out an engagement ring I would go for cut and clarity. The cut of the diamond can make a small stone look beautiful and the clarity can make a ring, which only cost a couple of hundred dollars, look like it’s worth a couple of thousand of dollars.

Remember to always take insurance out on the engagement and wedding rings. It’s important! Some jewelers have different plans, read through each of them and find the one that’s right for you. I recommend picking a plan that covers the cost if a stone were to fall out, if the ring were stolen, or lost.

A quick not about diamonds from Martha Stewart: A diamond, the hardest substance on earth. A diamond lasts forever, which symbolizes a love that will last forever.
