Halloween and Pet Birds

Halloween is fun for kids. It’s also fun for adults as they hand out goodies to all the little ghosts & goblins that come to the door.

What about your pets – especially your pet birds?

Maybe this year you can make this day special for your pet birds so they can enjoy the holiday too.

This is the right time to get some fall harvest foods that your birds will love.

Apples are plentiful, delicious and healthy for your bird.

Pumpkins are being harvested now and the mini pumpkins are just the right size for some birds or can be cut into smaller sizes for smaller birds.

Pomegranates are a special treat for many birds but a terrific mess can, and probably will be made - so be prepared. See the related links for information on pomegranates.

While your children are enjoying their Halloween treats; your birds can also be enjoying theirs. Please don’t allow your bird access to the candy and chocolates that will be all too available to the rest of the family.

Here is a book from Amazon.com with some great ideas for recipes for your birds.

Or you can follow this link to Amazon.ca where you can also find Gourmet Bird Food Recipes: For Your Bird .

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to drop by the Bird Forum anytime.

After many years of pet bird ownership, I have decided to write e-books about the care of some of these wonderful birds.
