According to several insiders, Britney Spears is planning a $10 million Vegas comeback. After countless unflattering paparazzi shots, disheartening court dates, and immense media coverage, the troubled mother of two is determined to regain her pop star icon status.
Britney was recently spotted having lunch with George Maloof, Palms Hotel and Casino owner, discussing her big comeback, in what they anticipate will flourish her career. Many viewers remember Britney’s last comeback at the VMAs as a complete let down, as she was disoriented, giving a pretty boring performance. Compared to her other scandalous and risky stage shows such as making out with Madonna and dancing with a snake, the VMA comeback seemed to only set her back, garnering even more negative media attention.
Britain’s News of the World claims Britney will be playing at The Palms Hotel and Casino at the end of the year. Sources assert that, “the concert will be one to top them all—a spectacle. It will have jaw-dropping lights, amazing costumes and a performance from Britney to roll back the years.”
While the actual comeback performance has yet to happen, we do know one thing for sure: Britney has to deliver one unstoppable show in order to reacquire her place in pop royalty.
As one of the biggest tabloid targets, Britney has experienced much coverage from the press—mostly negative. Here’s a closer look at Britney’s troubled timeline over the past two years:
June 2006: Britney’s pregnant again and struggles to maintain her marriage to Kevin Federline.
Nov. 2006: Britney files for divorce. The first infamous shot of her sans panties is taken.
Feb. 2007: Britney shaves her head. A few days later, she checks into Malibu rehab centre, Promises.
Mar. 2007: Britney checks out of Promises.
Sept. 2007: Britney performs the horrifying VMA show to her single, “Gimme More.”
Oct. 2007: Suspended visitation rights with sons, Jayden and Sean.
Jan. 2008: Spears’ lawyers request to be removed as her legal representatives.
It’s no secret that Britney’s antics, behaviour, and mental troubles are plastered across magazine pages and television screens throughout the world. While most people enjoy the privacy of their psychological meltdowns, celebrities are void of that luxury. Every single bad day, worse week, and downright horrendous month are shared amongst people celebrities will never meet.
But if Britney does Vegas right, this could be her golden ticket back to the land of dreams.
