Do you have what it takes to be a nurse?

Nursing is not just a profession it is a calling. It must be because I don’t know any other career choice where you work 12 hour shifts, on your feet all day, skip lunch, clean up vomit and diarrhea, stick tubes in every orifice and all for the money that nurses make.

How do you know if you would make a good nurse? Well does any of the above sound appealing? Consider this, are you a hard worker expect little recognition and enjoy being berated by physicians on a daily basis? If you answered yes, then you will make a great nurse.

Only kidding, well not completely but nursing is one of the most rewarding professions one can choose. Nurses have the honor and privilege of helping little lives come into this world, comforting patients and families through terminal illness, helping people to get well, ease the pain and suffering of many and the witnessing of many miracles.

Nurses have to be strong but compassionate and kind at the same time. They need to be willing to cry with others, hold a hand, wipe a brow and fluff a pillow.

Nurses must have flawless common sense skills and rely heavily on instinct. Nurses cannot be afraid to do the right thing; they must always be a patient advocate, no matter who they might piss off.

Nurses go home at the end of the day exhausted but knowing they made a difference in another person’s life. A good nurse will touch hundreds of lives in his or her career and probably never even know it.

Now if any of this sounds appealing to you, then chances are you would make a great nurse. So if you are deciding on a career choice, nursing maybe the direction you want to head. Below is a link to some valuable information to help you in your search for your perfect career choice. The nursing profession needs people like you!
