DVDs For The Cure launches this fall Best-selling DVDs participate in DVDs For The Cure to lend support to Susan G. Komen on September 23, tying in with the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. For the second consecutive year, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (TCFHE) and MGM Home Entertainment (MGMHE) join forces with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Several favourite titles are involved to raise awareness for the cause to end breast cancer. Susan G. Komen, one of the leading organizations in the fight against the cancer, began when Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister that she would do anything and everything she could to end breast cancer. Since that promise was made, Susan G. Komen for the Cure was born and has now become one of the worlds largest network of breast cancer survivors and activists, raising awareness, fighting to save lives, and donating to more scientific efforts and research. Last year, the campaign sold about 400,000 DVDs that participated in the promotion. This year, TCFHE and MGMHE will donate fifty cents from the sale of each participating DVD to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Marketing and advertisements can be found in renowned publications and outlets like O, The Oprah Magazine, in an effort to raise more funds than last year. The participating DVDs are packaged in pink, to honour the traditional colour of breast cancer awareness. The featured best-selling DVDs include: An Affair to Remember Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr star in this funny love story, as each is engaged to someone else. The Los Angeles Times calls it a true achievement in film making. A Walk in the Clouds Set in World War II, a veteran (Keanu Reeves) returns home to his wife (Debra Messing), ends up in his former door-to-door salesman job, and falls in love with a Stanford student. Ever After Drew Barrymore stars in this remake of the Cinderella story, set in the 16th century. In Her Shoes Two sisters constantly feud because of their extremely different lifestyles. Legally Blonde Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is a California blonde with good looks, fabulous friends, and a popular boyfriend. When her boyfriend dumps her, Elle is determined to fight for justice, love, and blondes. Mermaids A confused teenager (Winona Ryder) grows up with her unconventional mother (Cher) and younger sister (Christina Ricci), in a classic coming-of-age story. Thelma and Louise Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis star in the classic film geared towards empowering women everywhere. With high-speed thrill rides and an adventurous quest, these two best friends experience the journey of a lifetime. Look for these great titles and others packaged in pink on September 23, in participation of DVDs For The Cure. Katrina McGee, vice president of marketing at Komen for the Cure states, DVDs For The Cure is a great example of how anyone can easily support the promise to end breast cancer and add hope to many womens lives. | Related Articles | Previous Features | Site MapContent copyright © 2008 by Lorna London Sloukji.
