The Perfect Privacy Cover For Breast Feeding Moms

The Perfect Privacy Cover For Breast Feeding Moms
Breastfeeding in public continues to be an issue in the United States. Nursing mothers are asked to leave restaurants, to step into smelly restrooms and even leave recreational locations such as parks or community pools. Is this right? For the mother who only wants to feed her child these actions have a punitive feel to them. As a society, we are willing to sacrifice the well-being of a child to ease our own discomfort with a mother breastfeeding in public.
Tangela Walker-Craft, inventor of the Go Pillow, a soft pillow for a baby to rest its head on while nursing, knows the feeling of doing whatever it takes to meet the needs of her nursing child. While at Disney World she and her husband found themselves in the middle of a sudden down pour. Running for cover, they scooped up their little girl leaving the baby stroller and everything else out in the rain. They were dry, safe and assured that the rain would stop in time to keep the nursing schedule for their little one. However, as we all know, the weather is unpredictable and has a mind of its own. Even the best predictions of “how long it will last” are often wrong. Not wanting to wait much longer Tangela, knew she needed to nurse their baby. Her husband, a modern day prince charming, took off his shirt in the middle of the happiest place on earth and covered his wife and child while she nursed.

Tangela, knew that the soft cushioned baby pillow that she created needed to have an addition; an attached blanket. By attaching a blanket to the pillow, the mother can drape it over the baby and herself while nursing. The design is such that the mom can even maintain intimate eye contact with her child which promotes intimacy and bonding. The mother is fully covered with no need for her to go to another room or off to a dark corner. It is a compassionate solution of an often less than compassionate debate.

The Go Pillow is an outstanding baby product that has many, many uses. While the original idea behind the blanket was to serve as a cushion for the baby and a way to keep the back of the child’s neck dry, (as babies often perspire while feeding) it can be used as an all-in-one travel blanket, a napping blanket and as a great gift for every new mom.

This business owner saw a need and filled it. Because of her own experience with her child she was inspired to invent a pillow for her little girl and other children. The Go Pillow is a way for mothers to feel more comfortable breastfeeding in public. It’s very portable and easy to throw into a purse or bag. Maybe instead of public places like restaurants and hotels banishing their breastfeeding customers to stinky restrooms they can purchase these little pillows in bulk and offer them as a help to those needing to nurse; this would send a strong message that nursing mothers are not only expected, they are welcomed.
