The Kitchen Shower

The Kitchen Shower
Its getting closer to the, “time to arrange a shower” point in the wedding planning. You are the maid of honor or the best friend or any other combinations and you are stumped. Can’t think of an idea or theme, you just know you need to come up with something. Well here is an idea I love. The kitchen shower.

This is a great idea to give practical gifts. Stocking a kitchen is a great expense, as well as something that might be put on the backburner, until the couple gets on their feet. The basics of this shower are to create a list for small appliances and gadgets or placemats and dishes. Basically anything that can create a kitchen for the couple.

The first thing you need to do is find out exactly what kind of style the bride and groom have. Casually discuss ideas from your perspective, like “oh I saw this great show the other day and the kitchen was Italian style”. Say things that will coax the answers out and you will have the beginning of your list.

You need to write down all the items that need to be purchased, and actually assign them to each person with a rough price that they are to spend. That way there will not be doubles. Arrange to have the shower in someone’s home, that way it won’t be as obvious for the bride. Send out the invitations on a recipe card or rolled up in a spice bottle.

For gift-wrapping use kitchen towels in the chosen colors to wrap the gifts in. For food you can ask everyone to bring a homemade dish, also attach a recipe card to the dish so the bride can start a recipe collection. Decorate with dollar store cookie cutters and ribbons in the brides color choice. The possibilities go on.

Here is a small list of kitchen gadgets.
toaster
blender
coffee maker
waffle maker
griddle
cast iron frypans
stainless steel bowls
vegetable peeler
can opener
cook books
cookie cutters
rolling pin
cutting boards
just a few ideas.
