Land Choices Land Preservation
"Never give up and be tenaciously persistent."
Kirt Manecke, Land Choices
Land Choices.org

Kirt Manecke, President and Founder of Land Choices (Landchoices.com) has good memories of sharing picnic lunches with his mom, brother, and dog Herman, in a place with acres of beautiful rolling apple fields called Button’s Orchard. The meadows were busy with huge dragon flies and bumble bees. Kirt was only four years old then, but those days are engraved in his memory. It’s a memory of being close to nature and all of its treasures, gifts of peacefulness and invitations to play amongst open green pastures, or witness the beauty of hundreds of wild flowers in bloom. These are memories that he would like all children to have.

Button’s Orchard is gone now. It’s been clear-cut and graded flat for “cookie-cutter” subdivisions. Is there a way to create beautiful neighborhoods and preserve land at the same time? This is a multi-million dollar question that has only one answer…Yes. Yes there are ways to blend responsible planning with preserving our outdoor spaces, nature and wildlife. Kirt Manecke has spent years researching better ways to create land-preserving neighborhoods. He has learned that up to 90% of landowners are not aware that they have other options when it comes to selling their land for conventional subdivision development. With his data gathered and documented solutions readily available, Manecke started LandChoices.org, a national non-profit organization, to spread the word to help create neighborhoods that preserve land (conservation subdivisions) and offer information to those who are also passionate about land-conscious planning and building.

Every day thousands of homes are lost to development. The experience of driving down the street and seeing a new strip mall in a place that was once open, green and tree-filled is one to which most of us can relate. While Landchoices.org brings us the reality of acres of land being lost, it also also offers solutions. You'll find information on natural landscaping, rain gardens and additional ways to protect land and clean water. Kirt Manecke proves that it does not have to be “either/or” when it comes to land development. With awareness and education, we can have both.

Kirt’s Words of Wisdom

“Do your research. Listen to your customers and prospects and ask for feedback, then adjust your message based on what your prospects want. If you have become an expert and know you have a better “mouse trap” never give up and be tenaciously persistent. You will often be and feel very alone, but keep in mind that most of our great inventors felt the same way.”
