Candle tarts are small wickless like candles that are melted in a special container or candle warmer. They are simply placed in a wax potpourri warmer and lit below by an unscented tea light candle or electric warmer. As the wax melts, it releases its scent. They are simple to make and can be made in many type of shallow mold, tart pans, tea light candle molds or muffin tins. Any type of tin can be used as long as it has a smooth surface with openings that are wider than the base. This allows for easy melting.

Prepare your work space. Refer to article titled, "Preparing your candle making space."

What you need to get started
Supplies needed:

Candle dye chip: White
Candle scent: lavender
Candle thermometer
1 pound Container blend paraffin wax
Double boiler
Dried lavender
Metal pouring pot
Metal spoon
Tea light mold
Mold release

Melt wax in double boiler until it reaches 180 deg Fahrenheit. Never leave melting wax unattended and do not exceed specified wax temperature according to manufacturers recommendations. Refer to article titled, "Melting your wax." Never leave melting wax unattended.

While wax is melting proceed to step 3.

Lightly coat inside of mold with mold release.

Dye wax with chosen color.

Scent wax with desired candle making scent.
Dye and scent candle tarts to match a special occasion or the upcoming season.

Sprinkle and stir in the dried lavender into the melted wax with your metal spoon.

Using your pouring pot, pour melted wax into the mold until full to create candle tarts.
Allow wax to set.

Remove candle tart from mold.

Place in your tart warmer or an electric candle warmer to allow tart to melt and slowly release its scent.
