The Encore Effect

The Encore Effect
Dr. Chapman, an advocate of healthy living and preventative care, told me about a presentation that he gave to a group of business people. Originally, he was given an hour to speak; due to a schedule change the conference organizer asked, him to give a shorter 15 minute presentation. Dr.Chapman is a dedicated speaker who prepares for everything that he does far in advance of the event. With this last minute change, he was quickly able to streamline his presentation to fit into 15 minutes. At the end of his talk the room stood up with a great round of applause, he received a standing ovation and was asked to come back to speak to an even larger group at the next conference. Dr.Chapman experienced the Encore Effect as described in
Mark Sanborn's
book of the same title.
