Portage, the Lovebird Jigsaw Puzzle

Jackie Turnbull sent me a picture of her sweet dutch blue mutation Peach Faced Lovebird to use as a jigsaw puzzle. Portage had just finished her bath when this was taken.

You can make this puzzle harder (or easier) by changing the size and shape of puzzle pieces. You may have to scroll over to get the whole puzzle in your monitor window.

Jackie tells me that Portage is now 11 years old and has been with her and her husband Dave since shortly after she was weaned. Her favourite activities are cuddles and baths and although she is normally very sweet, she is also quite determined to get her own way. She is a happy healthy bird, but has had to make two emergency trips to the veterinarian in her life - once for a broken leg (which healed up perfectly) and once for egg binding (which also turned out well).

Portage and the other birds in the family all enjoy camping with Jackie and Dave throughout the summer months.

Peach Faced Lovebirds are the most common of all the Lovebirds kept as pets. They come in amazing colour variations and when kept as a single bird, they can make wonderful pets. Many people think that lovebirds should be kept in pairs and that is fine, as long as you do not expect them to be tame.

If you have more than one lovebird, the birds will bond together and that would make you an intruder if you try to remove one for private playtime.
