American Gods

American Gods is an exciting television series on the STARZ network. The show is set in modern times and opens by introducing the audience to a convict, Shadow Moon. Shadow has served three years in prison and learns that he is going to be released early because his wife is involved in a fatal car accident. It's not until later on that he discovers that his wife was having an affair with his best friend, Robbie, and they were in the car together when it crashed.

On Shadow's plan ride home from prison, he meets a man named Wednesday. Wednesday seems immediately drawn to Shadow and he offers him a job as his bodyguard. Shadow initially declines the offer but when he coincidentally runs into Wednesday again at a bar, he is persuaded to accept the job. As time goes on, we learn that Wednesday is actually the God Odin. Wednesday is on a mission to round up the older Gods in an effort to confront the more modern Gods.

The Gods are separated into two categories: New Gods and Old Gods. During the course of the series, we get to meet the God of Technology, the Goddess of Love, an African trickster God, the God of Globalization, and more.

When Shadow is leaving his wife's funeral, he is attacked by the God of Technology's gang where he is questioned and beat up. He is left to die hanging from a tree that eventually snaps and frees him. After the assault, Shadow threatens to quit working for Wednesday however Wednesday offers to double Shadow's salary so he stays.

As he travels with Wednesday, he continues to meet more and more interesting people including many Gods who are living normal American lives.

American Gods was initially supposed to be released through HBO however when they could not get a workable script, they abandoned the series and STARZ picked it up.

There are a few well known actors in this series including Cloris Leachman, Gillian Anderson, Dane Cook, and Orlando Jones.

You can catch up on past episodes of American Gods on the STARZ network or by streaming the show through the STARZ app.
