All About Fighting Belts

A fighting belt is a combination fishing tool and fishing accessory that makes fishing easier by helping in reeling in big fish. Fighting belts can be found in many shapes and materials, and can be found for both men and women's sizes. They are made to be used to relieve pressure off the back.

Fighting belts sit below or at the waist and fasten in the back. Velcro is often used as it is easy to fasten and release. There is an area in the front where the butt end of the rod fits in, and gives the fishermen a break of sorts when realing in fish. The area that the rod fits in is generally in a circle shape to hold in the end of the fishing pole.

Different weight tackles can be found in various fighting belts. Choose the weight that will hold the fish you are fishing for.

Different Materials of Fighting Belts

Fighting belts can be made of many materials, or combination of materials. These can include aluminum, polyurethane, polyethylene, mesh fabric, reinforced nylon, stainless steel or other materials. The harder materials are often used for added stability and strength. Fighting belts are generally padded around the edges or on the back side that is against the wearer for comfort.

Shapes of Fishing Belts

Fighting belts can be sized for any individual. They can rectangular or triangular in shape. Fighting belts can also be found in 'trunk' shaped where it is rectangular on the top with two slight downward pieces fashioned in the shape of trunks. These types generally fit lower on the waist to extend to the top of the thighs for comfort. Contoured belts have a shape contouring to the front of the body with more rounded edges.

Examples of Fighting Belts

The fighting belt below has a dual rod holder.

This fighting belt has a different make up and fastens by clipping around the waist rather than tightenting with a strap.
