How Your Baby Grows During the Twenty-eighth Week
Your baby's weight has doubled in since last month and now weighs about 2 pounds. He is about 14 inches long, although his crown-to-rump length is about 10 inches long.
Your son's fat supplies are being added to now, and beginning to fill out his arms and legs. He recognizes your voice now and when he is born, he'll turn to look at you when you speak to him, choosing your voice over anyone else's. He will also show a preference for your husband, partner or other people you are in frequent contact with, over the voices of strangers.
What the Mother Feels During the Twenty-eighth Week
If you are RH negative, your health care provider will probably be checking for the presences of antibodies in your blood. Many mothers also notice their breast size increasing again. In fact you are probably at least a full cup size bigger than you were pre-pregnancy and may need to purchase a new bra.
You may notice that your breasts are beginning to produce colostrum now. Some mothers find some leaking occurs during a warm shower, lovemaking or in stressful situations.
Your uterus is well above your navel now and the fundus can be found more than 3 inches above your belly button. You are not done growing yet, though, so be prepared to give up a little more rib room to the baby growing at a rapid pace inside you.
Both you and your baby are growing quickly at this stage in the pregnancy, so good nutrition is vital. Healthy proteins, low in fat, and complex carbohydrates are necessary for making sure your baby has the important fat supplies in place to keep him strong postpartum.
