Book Review for Teen Impact

Book Review for Teen Impact
When my son's homeschool friend recently published a book he was really looking forward to reviewing it. Teen Impact, by homeschooled teen Courtney Whitaker, is a must read for boys and girls alike-homeschoolers or not! This book is a perfect summer read for tweens and teens, and it would be a great Vacation Bible School book club choice, too. Here is my son's review:

Teen Impact is a great book about the problems a teenager would have, and countering them with knowledge from the Bible. It covers a lot of the problems an average Christian teenager might have. If I had any of those problems, Teen Impact would really help me. I think that it’s the perfect way for a troubled teenager to sort out their problems. Just reading the book gives insight into the situation of teens today.
Here are the different topics it covers:

Peer Pressure and fitting in
Role Models
Bullying
Family Issues
Fear and Insecurity
Gossip
Patience

The book also has other contents such as Top Ten Verses and a calendar prayer journal. It costs $10.99, and is available on Amazon with a discount making its price $9.34. Teen Impact was well thought out and exceptionally written, with meaning and purpose on every page. However, in my opinion, the most meaningful of the topics was in Chapter 6 and 7, on family issues. I don’t have those issues, though I know people who do and I feel like it’s a problem that not many teens know how to solve. Despite that importance, this was still a hard choice to choose just one or two meaningful chapters. All of the chapters were meaningful and important, and I think this book can make a real difference to the lives of many teenagers.

My only criticism is that I wish the questions had more answer choices. Sometimes, when I was reading the questions, I thought I would do something that was not covered in the three answers – so I picked the closest answer. Aside from that, though, the book was outstanding!

Overall, the book was great! It really illustrates a lot of excellent points and can really help a lot of people with the problems mentioned in the book. Even if you don’t have the problems in the book, it can give insight into your friends’ lives, situations that may happen to you in the future, and it even may raise awareness for problems such as bullying. Teen Impact is a meaningful and skillfully written book that I know will improve the lives of many.
