FROM THE EDITOR

Happy New Year to all our Bella Readers! We wish you a joyous beginning to 2003, and the promise of self discovery and dreams come true in this blossoming new year. The theme for this first month of 2003 is The World, from a global and personal perspective. This is a perfect time to really reflect on our place in the world. To discover (or remember) what our particular path, our gift, and our destiny is during this time on Planet Earth. It is also a traditional and conducive time to take stock of our lives - to look back at where we've been and to choose where we want to go this year. To envision what we want to manifest in our lives over the next twelve months. I encourage you to sit down and write out your reflections - and make a plan for the coming year. What do you want to do? To be? To feel? To express? In this newsletter we will look at the topic of self discovery through more than one lens - with the tarot as the foci for this worthwhile endeavor. If you have a question you would like to see published in the newsletter or wish to contribute to this publication, kindly send in your submission to BellaOnline by emailing me at tarot@bellaonline.org.

SELF DISCOVERY

The 21st century is a time that strongly promotes ventures in self discovery through a myriad of vehicles. The market is flooded with books, courses, workshops, videos, seminars, retreats, churches, and groups that all offer some means of self discovery. The opportunity for community or solitary work in this area has never been so freely available or common across various sectors of the population. The tools you choose to aid you in your internal journey should be ones that feel comfortable to you, that resonate with you. Many people find the tarot to be a fascinating tool for both reflection and self discovery. Coupled with other tools such as stirring music, essential oils that strike a chord with you, candles, and so on - the tarot can serve as an impetus to discovery your true natural self. When you spend time with yourself in such ways, a deep sense of peaceful gratitude emerges. It is from this point that we best manifest what truly serves us in our lives. It feels like magic, but it is really nautral laws of creation and attunement. The more you know yourself, the easier it is to be yourself. When we can live truly from our hearts and centers, things seem to fall into place, we experience synchronicity and little miracles and our path of self discovery begins to quicken and evolve. Spend time with your deck this year and use it as a tool for exploring your self. You'll be amazed at the messages you receive if you are quietly receptive to them.

The WORLD

The tarot card that best suits this time of New Year beginnings is THE WORLD, the last card - Number 21, of the Major Arcana. This card represents change as the successful conclusion of one phase of our lives or experience and the beginning of another. Fulfilment and material success are indicated, but so too is a greater spiritual awareness. We will feel that any prior restrictions or limitations have been removed, ushering in a new sense of freedom and peace. This card brings us visions of our Destiny and Higher Purpose. It also heralds a time of leisure and reflection, when we need to spend time enjoying spiritual fulfillment and pleasure.
