Tapestry of Grace

Tapestry of Grace
Tapestry of Grace Curriculum is a classical (read, think, write) integrated, Christian, four year unit study homeschool curriculum. This program combines a guided unit study approach for history, English, geography, Bible and church history, and several electives. It is appealing to parents because of the Christian overview that is incorporated throughout the studies. Math and Science are taught separately and other sources are also needed for phonics, grammar, foreign language and high school lab sciences.

The four levels are Lower Grammar, Upper Grammar, Dialect and Rhetoric. Lower Grammar is for K through 3 grades, with hands on, story books and read alouds. There are also a few options for emergent and non fluent readers. Upper Grammar is for grades 3 through 5, or for independent readers that enjoy chapter books and independent work, incuding memorization, and concrete and sequential facts. Dialect is for grades 6 through 9, for readers that make connections, debate and can do challenging assignments. Rhetoric is grades 9 through 12, for those students that read Great Books and can analyze and synthesize ideas.

Tapestry of Grace is a flexible program which is a major asset. The overlap of grade levels are for student development at different rates, so it is designed for stages, not ages.

In "Year One" The History of the Redemption covers creation through the Fall of Rome. Year Two takes you through the Medieval World through the United States signing of the Constitution. Year Three covers the 1800's of both American and European History. Year Four is about the Twentieth Century World History and United States History. The year plans consist of four units that can be purchased individually, which allows you to spread out the cost. Select what you need rather than purchase an entire year plan, especially if you have already studied ancient civilizations, for example, using another curriculum.

Once you are familiar with the layout it is fairly easy to use, as it is logically organized. The Redesign Version reformatted the entire original program which was called the Classical Version. Tapestry of Grace is available in Digital editions as well. The Loom is a digital collection of important and useful documents, and supplements that range from Arts and activities to Government and writing. New items are available to download on a CD and evaluations are available for the first three years. Writing Aids and Map Aids are on a CD also. A Bonus Bundle is available as well as an introductory program that allows you to see if "TOG" will work for you and your family. Like most unit studies, preparation and presentation is extensive.
