Cool Whip Dessert Recipes

Guest Author - Deborah Adams

Cool Whip is a whipped cream that is sold here in the United States frozen in containers for easy use in many recipes. Some of our favorite recipes include this sweet topping. Today for Mother's Day we made one of our favorite desserts which I'll share here. Other great recipes are included below. If you love sweet creamy desserts you're sure to love these recipes!

This first recipe is the one I made today. If you are looking for something super simple, fast and really good then this is a recipe you want to have on hand. Surprise visitors? No problem!!! Just keep these few ingredients handy and throw it together in a few minutes! They'll love it!

Easy Cherry Cool Whip Dessert

1 can of cherry pie filling
1 can of pineapple tidbits
1 small can crushed pineapple
1 cup shredded coconut
1 large container Cool Whip
Extra shredded coconut for top
a few marashino cherries (optional)

Drain pineapple very well. Using a large spoon, combine all the ingredients in a bowl until the mixture is evenly pink. Top with a little shredded coconut and a few marashino cherries if you want to. Chill and serve cold.

Easy Cool Whip Dessert Variations

To make a different flavor of the cool whip dessert above you can change things around and create a wonderful dessert all your own by changing the pie filling or some of the additions. Here are some great suggestions for making changes to this quick dessert. Remember your imaginations is the key to creating a uniquely "you" dessert that your guests will love. Experiment with different pie fillings, nuts, crumbs such as vanilla wafers or graham crackers (digestibles in some places), different fruits and there are also different flavors of Cool Whip you can experiment with.

Lemon pie filling, pineapple, cool whip, coconut and a few walnuts sprinkled in
Blackberry pie filling, pineapple, cool whip, coconut, marshmallows and marashino cherries (makes a great fourth of july event dessert!)
Apple pie filling, pineapple, cool whip, coconut, vanilla wafers
Strawberry pie filling, pineapple, cool whip, marshmallows, and pecans
Chocolate pudding, chocolate flavored, cool whip, marshmallows, pecans and a few crushed oreo cookies

The following dessert is also very popular at parties in this area. It's sweet/salty bottom crust perfectly compliments the other layers for a delicous treat!
Pretzel Layer Dessert

Bottom Layer:
2 c. crushed pretzels
3/4 c. melted butter
3 tbsp. sugar

Second Layer:
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1 c. sugar
1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip

Top Layer:
1 lg. pkg. strawberry Jello
2 c. boiling water
2 (10 oz.) boxes frozen strawberries

Bottom Layer: Mix well and pat in the bottom of 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350º F for 8 minutes.
Second Layer: Beat sugar and cream cheese until creamy. Stir in Cool Whip. Spread mixture over pretzels.
Top Layer: Dissolve Jello in boiling water. Stir in frozen strawberries while Jello is hot. Set aside 20 minutes to cool, then slowly pour over cheese mixture and refrigerate.
Chill and serve cold. Delicious!

Quick and easy Cool Whip/pudding pies

Now these are easy to make also. Just keep a few graham cracker crusts handy and they are so simple to throw together at the last minute!
Just make your pudding as directed except use half the milk required. Combine the mixed pudding with a container of cool whip and mix together well. Place in the crusts and add a few optional toppings and freeze.
Some suggested puddings and toppings are below..

Chocolate Pudding and shaved chocolate or crushed oreo cookies on top and mixed in if desired
Lemon pudding with vanilla wafer crumbs sprinkled around edge.. Add a thin slice of lemon twisted at the center for garnish
Pistachio pudding with chopped pistachios around edge of pie
Butterscotch pudding with a little caramel drizzled over pie
Cream cheese pudding NOTE: before serving place a mound of cherry pie filling in center of pie or spread over top of it
Vanilla pudding with chocolate sandwich cookies crushed and mixed in

As I was saying it takes some experimenting to come up with the perfect flavor for you! Have fun and enjoy taste testing!
