Eadred the Ageless

Eadred the Ageless - the first Merlin

Once upon a time in Illiodd,
(where thick is the air and damp is the sod),
before time really even began
there were four wise ones, one a man
known now by many names, all of renown
though he never wore a crown.
He is the king
of simply everything
and taught every wise person that ever was.

They say he sleeps in the very jaws
of death, up there in the crystal cliffs
Eadred the Ageless in and out of time drifts.

He has lived ever since the world began
in the cliffs at the southernmost tip of the land.
Cliffs all of crystal, quartz, onyx and rose
dotted with diamonds as big as your nose.
The whole world his dominion, every inch of the sod
of the far off land of Illiodd.

Each time the fairies dance and sing
Eadred the Ageless joins the ring.

Eadred carries a willow cane
and rides a mare with a golden mane.
His eyes flashing blue and hair flowing white,
he shimmers in robes the purplest tint of the night.
His skin is so pale it appears to glow
and everywhere he walks, flowers grow

He carries a magic golden horn,
that calls a thousand unicorns.
When the horn blows all the elves bells peal.
It really is a very, very big deal.
