Welcome to the Role Playing Games newsletter!

As a hobby, role playing games are always changing and evolving. It's easy to get stuck in our own ruts, playing the games we like and ignoring other ones. Part of my job here is to let you know what's going on and to review games you may not have heard about. Or maybe you've heard about them, but never really knew what the game was like.

I'll play them, and give you the scoop. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.

There will be something here for you whether you're a complete newcomer to the hobby (see the Newbie Advice section), a veteran player or GM, or anything in between. My goal is to cover the breadth of role playing games so that everyone, no matter who, can find something new to try on the site.

I'll also feature a lot of free games, ones you can download from the Internet. Free games are a mixed bag, but some of them are exceptional! Getting your gaming group to try a new game system can be hard, but there'll be something here to appeal to everyone. Of course, I'll also cover games you have to pay for, too.

For those of you who like to stay up nights debating philosophy, I'll cover plenty of RPG theory, too. Understanding the concepts behind our hobby can help us to become better players and GMs, and can help us deal with problems players and GMs.

I can also promise pictorial reviews of any gaming convention I personally attend. I'll be there if you cannot, and show you what it was like. I tend to play a wide variety of role playing games at conventions, so you'll get a taste of just about everything.

The newsletter is your easiest way to keep up to date with what's going on here. I'll highlight new articles and great forum posts with weekly emails direct to your mailbox. You'll find a sign up box to the right of every article, and also at the bottom of every article.
