I’m sure anybody that has created Websites has used notepad at one time or another to edit the HTML code. SiteAid is basically a text editor, however don’t assume it’s just a clone of notepad! There are some extra features added which are great fun to use. Many Website editors allow you to edit the Website as you see it, these are known as WYSIWYG editors. SiteAid is not one of these it is basically a text editor for HTML.

SiteAid is suitable for a large number of people creating Websites. You are able to write code using HTML 4.0 support, style sheets. The syntax is colored which makes it very easy to keep track on when you have to close the tags.

The most useful function is the spell check; this allows you to check the content of your Website as you go rather than having to copy it in and out of notepad. SiteAid also has FTP support which means you can save it straight onto a remote server, rather than having to work on a local computer.

The find and replace function is very impressive, this can be used to find and replace multiple items across a number of different documents. If you wanted to change something on every page then this can be done very easily. There is also a match case function that allows you to clearly identify which text you want to change.

There is also a help section which not only tells you how to use the application but it also helps you out with HTML. There is a tutorial which you can use so you can learn how to create a number of different things. This is fantastic and makes it suitable for people that aren’t that familiar with HTML editing.

If you have used previous versions of SiteAid then you may have been put off when you encountered a number of bugs. However all of these bugs have been ironed out in the latest version. SiteAid is now completely compatible with Windows XP.

SiteAid is also suitable for professional Web developers as it even allows you to open up to 100 different files in one go! This allows you to edit even the biggest of Websites easily.

SiteAid doesn’t have as many features as the HTML editors that you buy, however it is great value (being as it’s free!) and it does everything most people will need to do. It is also very intuitive and great fun to use.
