Work on the Longe
Longeing is much more than getting the yeehaas out of your horse. Combining the work on the longe with work in-hand will create a supple, well-schooled mount.
Basic Longeing (lunging) 
Work on the longe line is a valuable exercise. It allows the horse to balance without a rider's weight and allows the rider to visualize the horse's movement.
