The Titanic Movie Review
From the very beginning, she explains that Titanic is called “the ship of dreams.” In meantime, Rose (Kate Winslet) is screaming inside because she feels like a prisoner. She is engaged to a rich man named Cal (Billy Zane) whose personality is less than pleasant or humble.
Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), one of the lead characters in the movie, is a guy of little means, but has an enormous heart. He plays poker against a couple of guys for their tickets to America and wins. The Titanic is literally his ticket back to America.
One night he is sitting on the deck when he notices Rose frantically running toward the stern, stepping over the railing. When Jack comes to help, she threatens to jump. He is able to convince her to climb back over the railing. With a little edge of your seat drama, she makes it back over.
As a reward for rescuing Rose, he is invited to dinner by her fiancé. Rose’s mom conversation with Jack is patronizing, but he turns it into something positive – even causing them to toast to his comment. When dinner is over, he invites her to a “real party.” Although there was a dichotomy between their social status, she fits in perfectly. She is really able to let her guard down and be herself.
The next day Jack tries to see her, but he is blocked from seeing her. When he spots her walking along the deck he speaks to her. Unfortunately, she is convinced by her mom that he is the last person that she needs in her life.
And then, there is massive iceberg. The Titanic has to turn so that it will not crash directly into it. They are able to turn the ship, but they barely make it. The side of the it is swiped, and the real damage begins.
Everyone knows what happens to the Titanic. Many lives were lost during this travesty. The movie does a bit of foreshadowing about the event, which adds to the excitement.
Although Jack and Rose’s love is frowned upon by her mom, they want to be together. Throughout this story, I routed for them. Their relationship was so enthralling. I also appreciated the premise of Titanic’s ship sinking. There is a little fact mixed with fiction. It is almost as if there are two stories in one. The stories meshed well together.
The history of the Titanic was felt as the boat went through different phases before it met its demise. Meanwhile, you experience Rose and Jack’s relationship struggle as their love is tested.
I love this movie. It was more than I expected. If you’re really into enrapturing love stories this will be a treat for you.
I was not paid to endorse this movie in any way. It comes from my movie collection. The views and opinions that are expressed are my own.
