Even if you race through a round of golf you’re looking at spending minimum 3 hours on the course and longer rounds can go up to 5+ hours. That’s a big part of your day and it’s a safe bet that you’re going to have some time waiting between holes where you can get to know your playing partner. What a great opportunity to spend the day with your spouse or significant other.
They say that many a business deal is done on the golf course. That’s the social aspect of golf. It’s a forced break away from the computer, phone, kids, and daily routine. You can turn that opportunity into a nice afternoon with your partner to enjoy their company in a relaxing environment - or you can make it competitive if both agree.
Many spouses and partners golf together regularly. It’s easy to adapt with multiple tees and yardages. There are also fun games and different formats you can play on the golf course that don’t involve traditional scoring. Most important is the quality time you can spend together enjoying the fresh air and golf course scenery.
Another opportunity for couples to spend quality golf time together is a day trip or longer vacation to a golf resort. You can mix in clinics, lessons, and practice time with the standard 18 hole round, and you can do all of that as a couple, and with other couples. There are golf resorts and academies that actually do specialize and cater to couples. In between the golf instruction may be a break for wine tasting or afternoon couples massage. You may even meet some new golf friends.
The next time you and your spouse or significant other have some free time you may want to consider spending it together on the golf course. It’s a great way to relax and reconnect while enjoying each others company and sharing in an activity that you both enjoy.
