Constipation and Elimination

Constipation and Elimination
Chronic constipation can lead to many other serious health issues. And even occasional bouts of constipation can cause problems such as hemorrhoids, excessive gas or bad breath. Therefore, this would be a good time to set up healthy elimination habits that will lead to consistently regular bowel movements. But, before we can overcome any obstacles to good elimination, let’s set up a criteria. What is good elimination?

Although there are various points of view on the subject, healthy elimination, in my opinion, includes two to three bowel movements every day. The minimum would be at least once a day. Since food should take no longer than 24 hours to move through your digestion and elimination systems, and since you eat about three times a day, it only makes good sense that you should eliminate the waste material from those meals about three times a day.

Waste material that lingers in your intestines can cause trouble. It can become hard, dry and impacted, blocking the absorption into your bloodstream of valuable nutrients from the food you eat and the nutritional supplements you take. The waste material can also putrefy, becoming toxic. These toxins can then pass through the intestinal wall into your blood.

Constipation and the resulting toxic waste buildup can lead to everything from malnutrition, indigestion, hemorrhoids, headaches and varicose veins to diverticulosis, depression and auto immune diseases like cancer – especially bowel cancer.
