With the new updates to Amazon.com’s Free Price Checker, it has become one of the most popularly downloaded apps. With the Price Check by Amazon you can scan a barcode from a product in a store, snap a picture, type a name even say an item’s name to check prices instantly on millions of Amazon products. This feature is really helpful because you can check to make sure you are getting the best price on tons of products before you buy. In addition to checking Amazon.com prices, the application will price check against tons of other online merchants as well.
After checking the price, if you find your product cheaper online, you can purchase the product directly through the application. Another great feature is that you can access product descriptions and customer reviews. The customer review function is especially handy when you are comparison shopping between different products and you’re not 100% sure which product you should purchase.
The Pros:

*It’s very easy to use.
*There are numerous ways to look up products.
*You can make sure you are always getting the best price.
*Integrated with Facebook, Twitter and more.
The Cons:
*There is no way to save barcodes if you receive a network error message.
*The bar code scanner is very picky. Some apps have a more “tolerant” bar code scanner.
All in all, the Amazon Price Check is a handy free app to have. You can download it directly from the Market on your favorite smartphone. The app is available on Android and IPhone devices. I test drove the app yesterday when I was in Walmart. I was able to save $5 on a DVD that I wanted to purchase as well as $5 on a board game.
Unless you purchase qualifying items on Amazon, you usually have to pay shipping however you don’t have to pay sales tax the way you would at your local brick-and-mortar store.
