Holiday Gift Giving, Make Mine Scented!

Holiday Gift Giving, Make Mine Scented!
Most people like the idea of receiving gifts and scented gifts are always welcomed. For some reason, we’re always curious about what a given thing smell like, even if we’re not particularly fond of the aroma. This is where curiosity comes in and more often than not gets the best of us.

Holiday’s, especially those in and around December are when scented gifts out sell all others. But what if you’re a naturalist or the creative type and want to make your own Holiday Gift Items?

You need a plan! What are you able to create/make within a certain timeline and how many people are you making gift items for? Is this a single item for 25 people or is it multiple items for 10 people. For example: a single item might be a lip balm and multiple items might be a lip balm, bath salts and body wash. Multiple items could also consist of three different flavors of lip balm.

Let’s call this: Project Lip Balm Why do you use a lip balm or chap stick anyway? To soften and moisturize your lips. So I’ll be sharing a great recipe that I found and tried by Tiffany from Cartersville, GA.

Here it is!

Ingredients:

1 1/2 tsp Beeswax
1 1/2 tsp Shea Butter
1/2 tsp Jojoba Oil
1/2 tsp Sweet Almond Oil
3-4 drops Sweet Orange Oil or Peppermint Oil (or oil of your choice)
10 drops vitamin E 1000 IU

Instructions:

Melt beeswax, shea butter, and oils together in a double boiler. Remove from heat. When mixture has cooled down a bit, add essential oil and the vitamin E into the mixture.

Stir and pour into lip balm containers. Allow to solidify. This should be hard enough to use in lip balm tubes. If it is too hard, add a little more jojoba or sweet almond oil.

Makes about 5 tubes. You can also put your mixture into little pod type jars.

When making your lip balms, even though pods make a cute look and feel, labeling your gift item might work better if you us tubes. Especially if this is your first project and labeling is not your specialty.

Gift ideas might include, three lip balms in different flavors, packaged in cello bags with ribbons tied to them. The ribbon could also be the holder for the gift card.

Your gift card can be made from card stock paper, using colored ink pens. Give yourself enough time to work on your project and have it finished within a reasonable time. You don’t want to be working on your gifts the night before or the day of your event.

Surprise your family and friends and give them a little love from you in the form of a scented lip balm.
